ABOUT
us

Dusty Shed of Dreams

Our little business grew out of many years of what some might argue, an obsessive love of classic cars. Perhaps it all started to go wrong way back in the 80's when dad, in his wisdom, bought an accident damaged 1956 rover 90 for the princely sum of £50. Then a few months later a near totaled 1969 etype that had just been relieved of a rather intimate relationship with a roadside tree.

Since then, between us, we've owned / own 3 jags, 9 vw t2s, 3 vw t25s, 4 beetles, a beach buggy and had a brief flirtation with a Citroen XM, but we don't talk about that.

Much of the workshop grew from a need to service and maintain the fleet of t2s for our sister companies, Hilltop classics and Split the Difference. With 7 of them in near daily service, sourcing quality parts and maintaining them to their original, reliable condition, with some choice modifications, was of paramount importance to us and to be completely honest, the success of our business.

It didn't take long for people to start asking questions as to who did the work on them and so, here we are, not only maintaining our own daily driven classics and retros, but other people's too.

As owners, and enthusiasts, and as our ever burgeoning collection began to grow, we found it increasingly frustrating dealing with multiple professionals in multiple locations and multiple suppliers. Since taking the plunge as full time restorers, we've made it our mission to streamline the process for our customers, completing as much of the process 'in house' as possible.

We are now in a position to offer welding, bespoke fabrication in sheet metal and tubing, all aspects of bodywork including panel beating, lead loading and brazing. We have a fully equipped spray booth, with 3 metre high doors for all the high top campers.

We are also able to undertake engine and gearbox rebuilds as well as a number of blast cleaning and honing processes. In time we hope to be able to offer small batch powder coating.

Our priority has always been to help keep these little pieces of rolling history pootling around for everyone to enjoy. This often means we go further into the restorative process than some would deem necessary.

Our restorations are not for the faint of heart and we will never knowingly do half a job. We want a thriving classic car scene for years to come, as I'm sure most of you reading this would agree! But perhaps most importantly, completely satisfied customers.

As such we will keep in touch throughout the process and will always keep the longevity of your treasured vehicle as the top priority. There's no corners to cut in this game.

We look forward to hearing from you, happy motoring!

John and the Team.
